We check the number against the Luhn Algorithm (MOD 10) to verify validity.
Major Industry Identifier
The first digit identifies the category of entity that issued the card.
Issuer Identification Number
The first six digits identify the institution that issued the card.
Personal Account Number
Digits 7 to second-to-last indicate the individual account identifier.
How Validation Works
Our validator checks credit card numbers using several methods:
- Luhn Algorithm: Mathematical checksum verification
- MII: Major Industry Identifier check
- IIN: Issuer Identification Number validation
- Length: Card number length verification
